Spanish igaming market is going strong this year and there is no sign of slowing down. The revenue continues to grow and the numbers are just shooting up, compared to both last year outcome as well as in quarter-on-quarter comparison. 2017 is especially great for online casino – the revenue from this year is so far 30% higher than in 2016 and stands at 32.5 million euro.
New players are in
As the numbers go up, the family of Spanish iGaming is getting bigger as well. One of the most famous and most appreciated gaming companies in Spain, Amatic Industries GmbH, has been granted a legal license for releasing their selection of games on the market. As a result of this, Amatic online casino has now 27 new games available, including the most popular ones, like Bells on Fire, Arising Phoenix, and Diamond Cats. The company launched in 1993 and for more than 20 years has been one of the most successful operators on the international online gambling and casino market.
Amatic’s online slot machines and electronic roulette have been famous among the Spanish citizens for many years but the freshly received license is a milestone for the company, as it allows it to provide almost 30 new games for their Spanish fans. Amatic’s experts say that each game was checked and tested, to make sure that it complies with Spanish iGaming regulations, and all the games passed the tests without any efforts. Tatjana Baurer-Engstberger, the online gaming manager in Amatic, said that the company has gained respect on the Spanish market over the years, as a result of hard work and focusing on the best gaming solutions for Spanish players.
The approval process was long and required many steps but in the end, it was all worth it. Dutch iGaming testing institute, NMi, was responsible for managing the project and their actions resulted in authorization in all the areas of Spanish online gaming market.
The lucky year
Spanish iGaming market has had a spectacular year. Already in March, the revenue of online gaming was 20% higher, compared to the year 2016. Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, the national gambling regulator in Spain, has announced that only the first quarter resulted in 122.7 million euro revenue. The results from September were even higher – a total revenue at 140.5 million euro, which was almost 40% higher than the 3rd quarter from 2016. It seems like all the elements of online gaming has gone up in numbers. Sports betting increased by 37%, online casino revenue went up and stood at 54.2% growth in the quarter.
However, the victory of the “revenue-growth tournament” goes to slot machines. Slots generated 50.9%, which equals 22.3 million euros, of the whole year revenue. The second place, with 9.1 million euro income, goes to live roulette.
What’s the trick?
There is no magic behind this year’s results. According to the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, the operators started to spend more money on promoting the online gaming and it is safe to say that their plan has worked out. The gambling authorities in Spain admit that more than 30% of the income is spent on marketing. If the numbers continue this trend in the fourth quarter of 2017, this year will be long remembered by all the online gaming operators.
