AGA President and CEO Geoff Freeman released the following statement following Sunday night’s Las Vegas shooting near the Las Vegas Strip:
Police in Las Vegas are now investigating the case of a gunman who opened fire at a country music festival near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on Sunday night. According to reports, 50 people were killed while approximately 406 others were taken to area hospitals following the shooting. Police identified the shooting man as Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, from Mesquite, Nevada. According to investigators, Paddock opened fire on a crowd of over 22,000 concert-goers from the hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel at about 10:08 p.m.
The tragic Las Vegas shooting took place one day before the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Las Vegas, which is the three-day international gaming trade show and conference. The event is organized by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and Reed Exhibitions. It is to start on Oct. 3 and finish on Oct. 5 at the Sands Expo.
