The Tasmanian government wants to allow two more casinos in Tasmania, taking the total number of casinos to four.
Discussion over a new state gaming license allowing Two more casinos in Tasmania began on Wednesday when the Liberal administration announced that parliament plans to start an “open and transparent process”
The Federal Group had a monopoly on casinos, poker machines and Keno in Tasmania. The current deal is to end in 2023. Treasurer Peter Gutwein has revealed that government is to support extra non-residential casino licenses at each end of the state. The southern casino project may be given to Museum of Old and New Art’s operator, David Walsh.

Walsh’s initial project consisted of up to 12 gambling tables at his complex in Hobart’s northern suburbs and was targeted on wealthy international art lovers. An important part of the gaming licence negotiations will be poker machines, as there are 3,530 of them across the state.
